Within Kiambu county, sits Kereita forest on the western part bordering Nyandarua county and an extension of aberdares indegeous forest. Its home to hundreds of bird’s species, wild animals among them being Elephants which occasionally migrate from the Aberdares. Kereita forest has over time been on the map as the mining area for carbon dioxide gas. It’s about 61KM of the Kenya capital Nairobi along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at Kimende.
Kereita has in the recent times evolved to become one of the leading adventure activities destinations for a day trip because of the most new establishment, the forest. It’s a modern indoor and outdoor haven for travel enthusiasts. It has continuously attracted visitors due to construction of one of the longest zip line (2.4 KM) in East and Central Africa. Other activities include; Archery, biking, horse riding, and paint ball, trekking and fishing.
The facility is well actively conserved by a community group as a way of preserving the Natural environment as well as the historical sites that includes Maumau caves and the mass graves during the fight for independence.
The Forest is ideal for travellers looking for a day activities or overnight camping. It’s within an hour drive from Nairobi and has all weather roads for easy accessibility. The weather is conducive all year though in raining months it maybe too wet to enjoy. Also in the months of June – August the weather is foggy therefore hindering most of the outdoor activities.
We recommend it as the day trip destination or planned camping for merry makers. Our tour packages are budget friendly and exciting
